The teaser of Kamasutra 3D that released in 2013 took the Internet by storm. But the film didn’t see the light of day. There were even rumours that the film was shelved back then. Soon after, director Rupesh Paul was made headlines for the delay in the payments of the actors. Sources reveal that it was the sheer amount of VFX in the film, that stalled the movie release for an indefinite period of time.

A source close to the film revealed that Rupesh decided to rework the VFX for the film after he wasn’t quite satisfied with the results. The source says, “Rupesh had hired a VFX company based in South India but he wasn’t quite happy with the outcome. Now he has decided to rework the film.”

There was also buzz that Rupesh was seeking crowdfunding to work on the film. When we contacted him, he squashed those rumours. He said, “When we shot the movie, we knew there would be a lot of VFX and CG involved. Things are looking up for me now. My film was mistaken as an erotica but it is a war film. I don’t wont to blame anyone. If you ask any Hollywood production, most technicians are from India itself. I am also not raising any funds for the rework in the film.”

There were also rumours that he hasn’t paid the actors since a year. He counters, “Actors receive their payment in three stages. As soon as the dubbing of the film will be complete, every actor will be paid as promised. The producers and investors have been very supportive.”
