Hyundai has begun the mass production of the Venue at its plant in Sriperumbudur, Chennai with the SUV slated to launch on May 21. Official bookings began last week and Hyundai received 2,000 pre-launch bookings for the SUV in the first 24 hours itself. It will go up against the Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in the sub-4 metre SUV segment.

  • Can be booked online and as well as at dealerships for Rs 21,000.
  • Launch on May 21.
  • First made-in-India connected SUV.
  • Will be available with two petrol and one diesel engine options.
  • Expected to be priced from Rs 7.2 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.

Hyundai has rolled out the first Venue from its Sriperumbudur, Chennai production facility, two weeks ahead of its scheduled launch. Official bookings commenced last week for a token amount of Rs 21,000 and the sub-compact SUV managed to rake up an impressive 2,000 pre-launch bookings in 24 hours. The SUV is slated to launch on May 21 and will rival the likes of the Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and the EcoSport in the segment.

The Venue is going to be the first made-in-India connected SUV. This means, with the help of an embedded eSIM and Blue Link tech, it will offer features earlier seen on luxury cars. You will be able to remotely start the Venue, switch on the climate control and track location, besides a host of other emergency assistance features. To know more about the connected features, check out the links below.

The Venue isn't just debuting the Blue Link tech in India, but also the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine coupled to a 7-speed DCT. This motor makes 120PS of power and 172Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre turbocharged engine can also be had with a 6-speed manual transmission. You can also choose the 83PS/115Nm 1.2-litre petrol or the 90PS/220Nm 1.4-litre diesel, both available with a manual transmission.

The Venue will be available in five variants with a total of 11 engine-transmission combinations. However, the flagship 1.0-litre engine-DCT combination will only be available with the S and SX+ variants. The first Venue to come out of the manufacturing plant is an SX variant with a dual-tone orange and black roof combination and a manual transmission. The SUV will also be available in 7 colour options on all variants. The three dual-tone combinations are reserved for the SX variant only.

The Venue’s primary rival is going to be the Maruti Vitara Brezza. In terms of price, it will carry a slight premium over the Maruti because of its features. We expect the Venue to be priced from Rs 7.2 lakh to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
