Hero expands e-scooter range with Rs 62,000 Dash

PUNE: Hero Electric, India's largest maker of electric two-wheelers, on Monday launched its new electric scooter called Dash to boost sales in the already beleaguered slowing two-wheeler market.

The 12-year-old firm, which sold 3 lakh electric two-wheelers in India till date, sells a range of low speed, heavy duty and high-speed e-scooters in India.

The eco-friendly scooter has been priced at Rs 62,000 pan India showroom. Apart from the launch of the Dash, the company also showcased the Extended Range variants of the Optima and Nyx e-scooters.

The Optima ER and Nyx ER are now available across all Hero Electric dealerships at Rs 68,721 and Rs 69,754 respectively.

Dash e-scooter, set for 25 km speed, is powered by a 48v 28 Ah Li-Ion battery, with fast-charging of 4 hours and gives a range of 60 km per charge. It does not require registration and a license to ride.

The Optima ER and Nyx ER, both these electric scooters come equipped with dual Li-Ion battery with a speed range of 110 kms & 100 kms per charge respectively.

With Nyx ER already introduced in the market, Hero  has extensive plans to introduce heavy-duty products catering to the myriad requirements of the B2B sector, thereby expanding its offerings for the commercial segment.

Nearly 7,59,000 electric vehicles were sold in India in 2018-19 with electric three-wheelers accounting for a majority at 6,30,000 units, followed by electric two-wheelers at 1,26,000 units and electric cars at just 3,600 units.
