Future jobs will be different: Shaw

It is important that the country focused on affordability to ensure that technology is accessible to all.

Bengaluru: Now is the time for design thinking that will help us to be global leaders. Some 65 per cent of today's school children will be engaged in jobs that we haven't yet envisioned, said Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director of Biocon India.

Addressing the CII Karnataka Annual Meet 2019, Mazumdar-Shaw said, "We need to build capability and competence in new and emerging technologies, be it in government or in the private sector. For instance, we can use robotics to end manual scavenging and Bengaluru being the IT capital of the country should take the lead in this."

"We need to leverage data in an intelligent way that creates value to our society. We have a vast amount of data, but we are doing very little with it," she further added.

She was of the opinion that technology can solve most of the problems that plague modern cities such as air quality, water pollution and traffic. It is important that the country focused on affordability to ensure that technology is accessible to all.
