If things go as planned, Valentine’s Day 2020 could well be the start of a clash at the box office between Saif and Sara Ali Khan. While it is a known fact that Sara’s next film, an untitled project directed by Imtiaz Ali, is set for release on 14th February 2020, rumour has it that Saif’s Jawani Janeman will hit the screens on the same day.

“Sara Ali Khan has already been shooting for the film, which is making fast progress. On the other hand, Jawani Janeman has gone on floors very recently. Saif is quite excited about the film as it is a father-daughter story. The part of his daughter is played by Aalia Furniturewala, who is Pooja Bedi’s daughter,” informs our source.

Jawani Janeman is directed by Nitin Kakar, who last made Notebook with Salman Khan. The film has been making headlines because Saif is reportedly returning to films in a cool avtaar, a la Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail and Hum Tum. There was also a point in time when Saif was reportedly going to play Sara’s father in Imtiaz’s romcom drama as well. However, that rumour was replaced with a new one: Saif was stepping in as the father of the male lead, Kartik Aaryan.

However, Saif put all the rumors to rest after denying being a part of his daughter’s film. He did, however, admit that Imtiaz had offered him the film, which is reportedly a sequel to Love Aaj Kal, but hasn’t been named such. Saif was quoted as saying that he would have loved to play the part had time permitted.

And while the veteran actor isn’t a part of Sara’s next, he has donned the producer’s hat for Jawani Janeman. “That makes matters more interesting, because it is a surprise to see both films clashing with each other,” a trade source says.

“When you are associated with a film as a producer, you can definitely pick and choose a date which best suits everyone’s interest. Here, it is his daughter’s film with which he may end up clashing. Though for now both these films are slated for 14th February; it looks unlikely that eventually the clash would be averted,” the source adds. Interestingly, there are two more films that have their eyes set on Valentine’s Day: Aanand L. Rai’s Shubh Mangal Zyaada Savdhan, and Mohit Suri’s Malang.

It appears there won’t be just love in the air next Valentine’s Day, but war as well!
