The Ranveer Singh-starrer ’83 on the Indian cricket team’s first World Cup win, is now slated for release on August 30, 2019.

The film has already seen its fair share of controversies since a while now. The movie was initially to be directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. However, for reasons best known to the producers, the director, who also won a National Award for his movie Lahore, moved out of the project. And once Chauhan exited, Kabir Khan took over as the maker.

We are told that there are still certain issues pertaining to the script left, with a lot of actors still left to be cast. And with the movie set to roll soon, the makers are trying to amp up the preparations.

“The makers have to still sort a few issues with the movie. Only once that is done will they be able to start the movie,” informs a trade source. The film is being bankrolled by Reliance for Phantom.
