Deepika Padukone is now an expert at walking the red and green carpets. The actress had tough competition at the Cannes Film Festival this year as the style icon Kangana Ranaut made her debut at the Cannes. To add to this, both chose to wear a dress designed by Zuhair Murad. Well, we believe it’s a sheer coincidence.

Deepika looked radiant in a sleeveless figure-hugging gown with a plunging neckline, fully beaded in white shimmering stones and leaves with a matching cape.

She took to Instagram to post a glimpse of her attire and captioned it, “Ready to rock and roll (sic).”

As far as Kangana is concerned, she indeed has a great sense of style. She too looked absolutely stunning in a sheer sleeveless gown.

Kangana, who generally likes to keep it simple, stumped everyone with a messy bun and eye makeup.

However, a source close to the fashion industry reveals that it’s absolutely fine if celebs pick the same designer for the same event.

“Celebrities get paid to wear a designer and not the other way around when it comes to events like the Oscars Red Carpet, Cannes Red Carpet and the MET Gala among other high-profile events. Photographs and videos of such events are widely circulated bringing a name to the designer which they crave. So, if two Indian starlets are wearing the same designer, it means the designer has a huge budget. And if you are getting paid, what’s wrong in wearing the same designer? It’s just that if the dress is panned, the money’s not really worth it,” says the source.

This is Deepika’s second outing at Cannes as the brand ambassador for L’Oreal Paris while Kangana walked the carpet as a brand ambassador for a liquor company. Well, both looked pretty in their gowns though.
