Vaani Kapoor to romance with Shahid Kapoor in Batti Gul Meter Chalu?

Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor is playing the male lead in Shree Narayan Singh's 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu', and speculation has been going around sometime about who will be the leading lady in the film.

Rumours surfaced for long that the film, directed by Shree Narayan Singh of 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' fame, will see Katrina Kaif or Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead in the film. Now as per a report in Mid-Day, the latest name doing the rounds is that of Vaani Kapoor.

The report suggests that Vaani has had a series of meetings with producers Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor and she is likely to sign the film. If things fall into place, the film will be Vaani’s first film outside the Yash Raj Films’ banner.

The film is all set to go on floors on January 19 and it will release on August 31, 2018.

Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor is waiting for the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial period film 'Padmavati', in which he has played the role of Raja Maha Rawal Ratan Singh.
