Actress Sagarika Ghatge, who couldn’t really make it big in Bollywood despite having a big launch in Chak De! India starring Shah Rukh Khan, believes that it can be bad to be immensely successful when one is too young.

“It’s not good to be successful when you are too young. You are little sure of a lot of things that come your way. The film industry welcomed me really well. I was just 19 years old when Chak De! happened and I got a lot of good work then but I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to study or continue acting,” Sagarika says.

She further adds, “Maybe, I think I should have been a little more aggressive about getting things done right, which I didn’t. But that is fine with me as I am a satisfied person. But I would like to rectify those aspects as I think I didn’t make an effort.”

Post Chak De! India, she was seen in films like Fox, Rush etc. but unfortunately for her, none of these films did well at the box office.

Ask her how does she look at the competition in the showbiz and if she feels insecured at times and she says,  “I have always been very happy the way I have been. I don’t attend film parties. I have grown up in Mumbai and so I have my group of friends. There is a lot of work in this industry and I just hope that I get my space.”

Sagarika however, says she was flooded with offers post her debut film.

“I did get a lot of roles but I didn’t know what to do after that. Also, I had to realise that a film like Chak De! couldn’t be made again and I have to cherish the feeling of doing that film,” the 30-year-old says.

Sagarika, who also did a Marathi film Premachi Gostha, says she is extremely happy to see the regional cinema doing so well.

She says, “I try to choose work that has always helped me as an actor. I did a Marathi film because it was of Atul Kulkarni. It was like a workshop with Atul and that’s a learning experience and so I am happy doing things like that where I get satisfaction as an actor. Besides as an artiste it gives me immense pleasure to see regional cinema going so strong.”

Meanwhile, the actress was also seen essaying the role of a journalist in Irada, which hit the screens this Friday. She says, “I have a lot of respect for journalists and it is not easy to be one. They have to face a lot of hurdles and threats so it was challenging to do this role.”
