Paps, back off

Actor-politician Jaya Bachchan recently reminded the paparazzi just how unwilling she is to pander to their whims. While at the inauguration of designer Shruti Sancheti’s store, she was in no mood to pose for the cameras. “Maaf kardo, ho gaya (I’m sorry, I’m done),” she said, rather sternly, before walking away and leaving the photographers taken aback.

“No one wants to indulge in an argument with a celebrity anymore. We do respect their privacy and want to click pictures of them only when they are comfortable. Ideally, when someone makes an appearance at an event, we assume that they will pose for pictures. But when she said she didn’t want to pose, we asked the photographers to back off,” says a paparazzo.

Later, the paps found out that the reason Jaya was keen on making a swift exit was the imminent arrival of her former bahu-to-be Karisma Kapoor.
