Rose Leslie is in awe of co-stars
Game of Throne’s Rose Leslie has had the opportunity to work along with some of Britain’s most talented and good-looking actors. She played the meticulous housemaid Gwen Dawson in the first season of Downton Abbey, and later featured as Jon Snow’s paramour, Ygritte. After three seasons in the fantasy series, she now plays Idris Elba’s new police sidekick in Luther.
Rose joined the cast of BBC’s police drama Luther for its fourth season and is delighted to be working with them. “I personally felt that I was working with a bunch of geniuses. And you know these men are phenomenal at what they do, from Neil Cross, Sam Miller, Idris Elba to our DOP to our crew to the rest of the cast. Really, there’s absolutely camaraderie on set.”
Speaking about the mood on the set, Rose said that everyone’s giggling and chuckling on it. “I think that you have to find comic relief in something that is so brutal and nasty with the subject matter. For me — I’m standing back in awe being like, how do you do that How are you just laughing and being very much at ease to then falling into the role of Luther or Schenk or Benny and then just hitting the nail on the head by being phenomenally good, incredibly professional, and just being able to act at the drop of a pen. It’s amazing.”
Luther will air on FX, May 2 onwards.
