Sources stated that the BJP has benefitted immensely due to the consolidation of the non-Jat vote in the state.

The BJP gained due to alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) which created a three-cornered contest with Congress on the third side.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to improve its Haryana Lok Sabha tally and may even  head for a clean sweep. The results are likely to have a positive impact on the Assembly elections scheduled for later this year.

Party sources stated that the Narendra Modi government’s 10 per cent quota to the economically backward unreserved categories also helped the party in reaching out to  these communities, which includes Jats.

Though the BJP was facing a double anti-incumbency in Haryana, where Manohar Lal Khattar government completes its tenure later this year, the party is now confident of a  good show in the state.

The party had recently won an Assembly byelection in Jind where Congress’s national spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala was defeated by BJP  candidate Krishan Middha.

The BJP has won a majority of local civic body  polls since the Khattar government came to power.

With 10 Lok Sabha seats, Haryana was one of the states that the BJP was hoping to do  well in the ongoing Lok Sabha contest. In 2014 the party had  secured seven Lok Sabha seats from the state.

The Khattar government is scheduled for a reelection as the 90-member Haryana  Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in October.
