New Delhi: Trouble seems to be brewing for senior Trinamul Congress leader and former Union minister Sultan Ahmed as the CBI is set to seek permission from the competent court for conducting lie-detection test on him as part of its investigation into the Narada sting case. Sources said Mr Ahmed failed to give satisfactory reply to the agency sleuths during recent questioning.

“During the recent questioning by the agency sleuths, the TMC leader concealed facts related to the case. He gave conflicting statements and hid crucial information related to the case”, sources in the agency said. The agency is now preparing to approach a competent court in Kolkata for conducting lie-detection test on him, they added.  Sources further clarified the agency will first need to seek his consent as legal provisions entail that such a test cannot be conducted without his permission.

Mr Ahmed, who is also the vice-president of Trinamul Congress, is allegedly accused of arranging meetings between Mathew Samuel of Narada and some other senior leaders of the party. According to the FIR lodged by the CBI, charges of bribery allegations were slapped against 13 senior leaders of Trinamul Congress leaders.
