Bikaner: Man lynched over religion
The girl reportedly wanted to marry with her boyfriend Saif, however, boy’s religion became the seed of discord.
Jaipur: A Muslim young man was beaten to death by his girl friend’s family in Bikaner. The incident took place last night. The police have registered a case and arrested three persons.
According to superintendent of police, Sawai Singh Godara, the 21-year-old girl is Hindu whose family did not approve of her relationship with 22-year-old Muslim boy Saif Ali who was a daily wage labourer in fruit market. The girl reportedly wanted to marry with her boyfriend Saif, however, boy’s religion became the seed of discord.
On Tuesday, when Saif went to meet the girl in Rampura Basti around 9 pm; around seven persons hatched a conspiracy and took Saif to a deserted place on the outskirts of the city where they severely beat him up.
They dumped him in a drain afterwards. The SP said that a police team reached the spot after an eye witness informed. Saif who was seriously injured with both legs broken was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries in the wee hours on Wednesday.
He was buried later in the day after an autopsy. He said that the exact cause of the death will be known after receiving the postmortem report.
“We have registered an FIR against seven people namely Bunty, the woman’s cousin, Shiv Mali, Raja Sonar, Gopal Khati, Bablu Mali and two others for murder, abduction for murder, wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt and other relevant sections of the IPC. Three persons including Bunty, cousin of the girl has been arrested,” Godara said.
This is the latest in a series of hate crime incidents in Rajasthan in last one year.
The most gruesome was of Mohammed Afrazul, a labourer from West Bengal who was hacked to death by Shambhulal Raiger who also posted the murder on social media. Shambhu Lal had accused Afrazul of “love Jihad”.
