Plant-based beauty blends are the latest craze among women, who can't get enough of these light oil-based elixirs to heal the skin naturally. With more and more consumers acknowledging the effectiveness of natural treatments, plant-based beauty blends have become widely known. Although they are priced quite high in comparison to most beauty products, we find out why beauty enthusiasts prefer them over creams and serums.

Oil-based elixirs revitalize the skin naturally and are more effective in comparison to creams. This can be accounted for in the fact that creams are a mixture of fat, active ingredients and water, wherein there is no water content or active ingredient present in a plant-based elixir. “Plant oils prove to be more concentrated and potent,” remarks Dr Jyotsana, a medical consultant at Kama Ayurveda, and explains, “Due to the water in creams, there need to be natural preservatives to prevent microbial growth but in comparison, oils do not need any preservatives. The right way to buy plant oil is to identify your skin type. Basis your skin type, you can make an informed decision, and choose oils that will work best on your skin type. The most important quality to look out for while choosing is the authenticity, purity of its ingredient and the process of production.”

Face elixirs are now even more potent with added effective ingredients and Phytoinfused oils. With over 50+ compounds in each formulation, they have superior moisturizing properties and high antioxidant power to replenish and protect the skin’s barrier, which makes them safe for all age groups. “They are packed with immense goodness and they are here to stay,” declares Shubhika Jain, CEO of Ras Luxury Oils, as she elaborates, “Due to external factors such as pollution, UV rays, and seasonal changes, it is important to take proactive measures to fight lipid depletion and replenish lost lipids to maintain healthy skin using natural plant elixirs. Plant serums are packed with powerful hero ingredients and it important to pat them into the skin, rather than just slathering them on top for absolute absorption. Check the ingredient list before buying any product, and test on your skin type. Heavy oils such as coconut and Marula might not be suitable for acne-prone skin. Similarly, watch out for skin irritant ingredients such as lemongrass.”

Since plant elixirs easily blend into the skin, it can be used in minimum quantities to retain the skin's moisture level and keep it soft and supple. It helps reduce stretch marks, anti-wrinkle properties and improve skin elasticity. Beauty expert Shiv Singh Mann, founder of Desert Splendour, says, “Something like jojoba oil has been around for years and it has extremely beneficial properties and is full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. While buying the jojoba oil, be sure it is in the form of liquid wax and not oil, identical to the natural sebum produced by your own skin. Cold-pressed plant oils are ideal for dry and damaged hair. It helps in reducing the effects of diseases like eczema and psoriasis on the skin.”
