New Delhi: A 5-year-old boy died on Wednesday after coming under the wheels of a speeding Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus while he was crossing the road in Shahbad Dairy area of Rohini, police said.

The boy, Mohammad Gulshad, lived with his parents on Bengali road and was playing in the area at the time of the incident, they said.

A PCR call was made and the child was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead, police said.

A few locals tried to catch hold of the bus driver, but he left his vehicle and ran into one of the narrow lanes, from where he managed to flee.

The police has registered a case and formed a team to arrest the accused driver.
