Gang trafficking kids to US busted
Kolkata: The detective department of the Kolkata police busted an international human trafficking racket in a major crackdown, and arrested three persons, including a couple from the central parts of the city.
The accused are Sajid Khan Pathan (40), a resident of Collin Lane, his wife Parveen (35) and Asad Omar (41), a resident of Imdad Ali Lane in Taltala. The arrest was made following a piece of information about international human trafficking to the US and Mexico, said joint commissioner of police (crime) Vishal Garg on Monday.
Mr Garg added, “Sajid and Parveen, who have minor twin daughters, fabricated identity documents of minor girls to resemble their daughters and used the passports of their daughters to traffick those girls in two batches to the US and Mexico. Records suggest that they travelled to US and Mexico from India thrice in the last one year.”
He elaborated, “They even faked and prepared forged immigration stamps on their daughters’ passports to certify their daughters’ return to the country. All through this, Asad had played the able second fiddle in the odious act of inducing minor girls and felicitating their ‘safe’ journey.”
Indian passports, visas, mobile phones and a laptop were recovered by the detective department from the trio.
