CID grills three health department senior officials

Kolkata: Three senior state health department officials were questionned by the criminal investigation department (CID) on Friday in connection with the fake doctors’ recruitment scam the state detective agency had busted. 

The health department officials who were questioned are Dr Jagannath Sarkar, Dr Swapan Kumar Sarkar and Dr Ajoy Kumar Chakraborty. While Dr Jagannath, a resident of Netaji Colony in Malbazar of Jalpaiguri, is posted as the chief medical officer of health (CMOH) in Jalpaiguri, Dr Swapan, a resident of Michael Nagar in Dum Dum, is presently posted as joint director (blood and safety) at the state health department headquarters, Swasthya Bhawan, in Salt Lake.

Dr Swapan was previously posted as the CMOH in Jalpaiguri. Dr Ajoy, a resident of Teworpara Lane at Rajpur in Sonarpur of South 24 Parganas, is presently posted as joint director and state family welfare officer of the heath department. 

He was earlier posted as the additional chief medical officer of health in North Dinajpur. Deputy inspector general (operation) Nisat Parvez said that the medical officials were questionned in the case initiated at the Electronics Complex police station in Sector V of Salt Lake case in April 2017.
