Pakistan's lie on Dawood Ibrahim exposed: Police
Mumbai: With an Indian news channel claiming on Thursday that its reporter spoke to fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim on his Karachi landline phone number, the Mumbai 1993 serial blasts key mastermind’s patrons in the Pakistani establishment will find it difficult to deny his presence there, said sources in the Mumbai police.
Sachin Vaze, former Mumbai crime branch officer, said, “When I was posted with the crime branch, I had heard the voice sample of Ibrahim. The voice in the tape is that of Dawood himself. It matches with the voice database sample of the crime branch.”
Sources pointed out that despite repeated requests from India to return him to India to stand trial for his multiple crimes, Pakistan has repeatedly stonewalled them.
Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, who is responsible for proving charges against a hundred accused in the ’93 serial blast case, said, “There are different modes to identify a person and voice identification is one of them. Now if the voice is Ibrahim’s, it is very good evidence against him. Now this voice sample can be compared with the data that is already available with us and if it tallies... America can put pressure on Pakistan to deport him to India.”
