The Bombay high court on Monday asked Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (Mard) to give undertaking that they would not go on strike till the re-constituted grievance redressal cell gives its report on the issue raised by them.
The court on Monday approved re-constitution of a seven-member grievances redressal cell headed by retired high court Judge V.C. Daga to investigate into the allegations of Mard against the dean of state-run J.J. Hospital, Dr Tatya Lahane, for not allowing doctors to perform surgeries. The panel would also look into various other issues concerning the doctors affiliated to Mard and the demand made by doctors regarding the transfer of Dr Lahane.
The division bench headed by Justice Abhay S. Oka on last date of hearing had directed the acting advocate general Rohit Dev to check availability and suggest name of any retired high court judge who would head the committee. As per court direction advocate Dev suggested the name of Justice V.C. Daga, which was accepted by the court. The bench later asked the panel to file a report by June 23.
