Chhagan Bhujbal has chest pains twice after arrest

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former PWD minister, Chhagan Bhujbal, took ill the very next day of his arrest.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former PWD minister, Chhagan Bhujbal, took ill the very next day of his arrest. So much so, on Wednesday morning, doctors were called twice from two different hospitals to check on his health.

Bhujbal has been examined by a cardiologist and chest physician. His chest is clear, so he has been advised a detailed check up in JJ Hospital on Thursday.

According to sources, Bhujbal complained of chest pain in the morning as well as afternoon, after which doctors from St George Hospital were called for a checkup. Later at night, J.J. Hospital doctors too got a call from Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, asking them to send some doctors to check on Bhujbal’s health. Sources said that since Wednesday morning, Bhujbal was not being interrogated by ED officials as he complained of chest pain. A cardiogram was then taken which showed his health to be normal. Later in the evening when he was stable, officials were called for interrogation but he again started feeling sick at that time.

Two general physicians were sent from St George hospital in the afternoon for checkup. Not much has been revealed but a source from the hospital said doctors have recommended him to see a chest specialist and cardiologist. “As per routine checkup, the ED asked the hospital to send two doctors for Bhujbal’s checkup. We can’t reveal what was the report of the doctors as it is confidential between the hospital and the ED. But the doctors suggested he get himself checked by a chest specialist and cardiologist,” said a source. Following this, ED called J.J. Hospital at 8.30pm for another checkup of Bhujbal. “After we received a call, we sent two general physicians for Bhujbal’s checkup. Reports from the doctors are awaited,” said Dr T.P. Lahane, Dean of J.J. Hospital.

The senior NCP leader and former Maharashtra deputy chief minister was arrested by ED after 10 hours of questioning in connection with its probe in a money laundering case registered against him and others. A special PMLA court of the ED has given two days’ custody of Bhujbal.
