Police reunites boy with family

The Borivali railway police has united an 11-year-old boy, who was found alone at the Borivali railway station, with his family.

The boy, who had been travelling in the Saurashtra Express alone to Borivali, stays in Bhiwandi. He had reached the station on Tuesday.

Local railway police officials noticed him roaming on the platform and enquired with the boy who was unable to tell them his address. Later, the police took the boy to Bhiwandi where he started to recognise landmarks and, based on this, he was handed over to his family.

According to police sources, during their routine patrolling of the train coaches, the quick reaction team of the Borivali railway police noticed the boy waiting in the first class coach of the train and enquired about his destination but he failed to give any satisfactory answers to the police. Later the boy was handed over to the child helpline,which started searching for the family of the boy.

During the questioning, the boy informed the police that his name was Sharad and he stayed in Bhiwandi. He had gone to visit his relatives and they were supposed to drop him back home, but they later told him to return by himself. However, the boy forgot his address.

Later, the police decided to visit Bhiwandi with the boy on Tuesday evening, expecting that this would help him recall his house.

Interestingly, after reaching the area, Sharad recognised the road of his house and informed the police. Acting upon the instructions given by the boys, the police reached his house and handed him over to his uncle Dhanraj Udi Lal after a verification.
