Ravi Shastri appointed as Team India head coach until ICC World Cup 2019
Mumbai: Former Indian cricketer and current commentator Ravi Shastri has been appointed as Team India’s head coach. Ravi Shastri was onew of the candidates, who had given the interview for the coach job- along with Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput and Richard Pybus.
The 55-year old from Mumbai was India's Team Director from 2014 till 2016.
After postponing the decision on Monday, the CAC, comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly, on Tuesday, confirmed Shastri as the new head coach.
While it was expected that the announcement of Team India head coach would be made on Monday, the day when CAC interviewed the five candidates, Ganguly, in a press conference said that the committee will want to speak with Kohli before announcement.
It was also reported that Vinod Rai, chairman of Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators, has told BCCI to appoint India coach by Tuesday evening.
