Every gamer goes clueless when a new updated version of their gaming console is released. Somehow you end up buying the new console and the ex rests in peace, eating dust somewhere in a dark corner of your house.

Moreover, imagine the e-waste being produced when you decide to ditch your previous console for a new one and eventually this one in future too. So today, we bring you a couple of remedies to stop this endless chain of unwanted gaming consoles going to waste.

Have you considered reselling them or exchanging?

Throwing away might feel like an easy job to do but what if you can make some money off your old console. Yes, there are many sites that let you resell your old gaming devices; to name a few of the popular ones – OLX, eBay and even Facebook’s Marketplace come in handy and offer an easy process to bid goodbye to your old gaming kit.

Whenever a new launch is imminent, most companies have exchange offers for buying the new one. Be sure to check for such promotional offers.

If you don’t want to sell it online, you can always make a sale by bringing out the salesman inside you. But of course, set the right price after doing some research.

Importantly, before you send off your old console, always remember to erase your personal information if there’s any, and remember to back up any important data.

Donate

Doing a good deed has never harmed anyone. If your device is in a working condition and its simply eating dust and you are not getting the price you asked for then why not give it to somebody who may use it?

There are a lot of organizations and charities who accept used gaming consoles and provide them to children at orphanages, hospitals and family shelters. Be sure to do your research before you donate them off.

Recycling at an e-waste facility

So your console is totally dead and isn’t fit for reselling or even donating, then you must recycle it at an e-waste facility. Your console parts could be made out of plastic, metal or anything and recycling all of it on your own would be a tough thing to do.

Nintendo and Microsoft both offer a recycling program, so users can simply giveaway their consoles for store credits or anything else that may be up for grabs.

There are more and more e-waste facilities opening up everywhere and you can always go to the nearest ones.

If you can’t let go of your devices yet, we also suggest hanging on them because you never know how much they may get worth for after a decade.
