I endorse cardamom, not tobacco, says Ajay Devgn
But the actor maintains a rather diplomatic stance to the issue while he has clearly been a part of surrogate advertising.
Recently one of Ajay Devgn’s fans Nanakram, a cancer patient and a former tobacco consumer had urged the actor to refrain from promoting tobacco products, because tobacco had an adverse effect on his health leading to cancer.
In fact, Nanakram inspired by his screen idol, was even consuming the same brand, which Ajay Devgn was endorsing leading to his ill health.
But the actor maintains a rather diplomatic stance to the issue while he has clearly been a part of surrogate advertising.
“I have always mentioned in my contracts that I will not endorse tobacco. The commercial that I have done is of elaichi (cardamom). My contract also says that the product (elaichi) will not have any tobacco. If the said company is also selling other products then I do not know what to do,” replied Ajay Devgn in a media interaction when asked about why he was promoting a tobacco brand and what he felt about the tobacco patient’s appeal.
