Ramayana v/s Mahabharat

Well, it is said that most of the stories that happen in Bollywood are inspired by small stories from the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. So, while on one hand, we have Aamir Khan mulling over his three-part version of the Mahabharata; on the other hand, Madhu Mantena Varma and Allu Aravind have collaborated for their three-part film series on Ramayana. Additionally, director Kunal Kohli is also helming a film, which is an adaptation of the Ramayana and is set to release in 2019.
The director who was last seen opposite actress Jennifer Winget in the 2015 film Phir Se, is quite excited about working on the upcoming epic. “Kunal also produced a film with Amit Agarwal from Adarsh Telemedia recently called Vartak Nagar. He is casting newcomers for his film that will go on the floors this year and release next year. It is not uncommon for two films on the same subject to go on the floors at the same time, but it’s not a great idea as it seems like a clear cannibalisation of the audiences,” says a source.
