CISF trains UP cops for Metro security
Two more batches of the UP police will be trained by the CISF in this task, a senior official said.
New Delhi: Around 330 personnel of the Uttar Pradesh police were trained by the CISF in the national capital to smoothly run the upcoming Metro projects in the state.
The UP police officials were trained by the CISF in acquiring some special skills to secure the Lucknow Metro and the upcoming Metro projects in the states. “We trained them to deal with passengers, frisking, to operate and monitor X-BIS machines, scanner, and other security tactics in any given situation. We have provided them with 7-10 days of training in batches for the upcoming Metro projects in UP. The UP police will handle their respective Metro network on their own. As CISF has the expertise of providing security to the Delhi Metro for over a decade, so we share our skill with them,” said a senior CISF official on the condition of anonymity.
“The paramilitary has prepared a special capsule for these officials, led by an assistant commandant-rank officer, who will secure the Metro in their state capital on the lines of what the CISF does for the Delhi Metro. These police personnel were trained in the nuances of smartly securing the mass rapid transport system against terror and sabotage threats by deploying smart surveillance, intelligence, and security techniques. That apart, they will also be skilled in the usage of security gadgets meant for passengers, baggage frisking, and others,” the official added. The CISF was first tasked to secure the Delhi Metro in April 2007 and has now developed expertise on the subject. The trial run for the maiden Metro project of UP was done in the year 2016 by former CM Akhilesh Yadav for about 8.5 km track between Transport Nagar depot and Charbagh station. The first phase of this Metro is expected to become operational soon.
