New Delhi: A 35-year-old Delhi police constable was shot and injured, while on patrolling duty, after a miscreant fired at him. Reportedly, the said constable had held back the miscreant for checking at Maqsoodpur village in Vasant Kunj.

The police said that two constables, while carrying out patrolling duty at about 6.30 pm on Sunday, noticed two men walking suspiciously. Both the policemen were on bike when they saw the miscreants and had signalled them to stop. As the two cops started questioning them, one ran away. Head constable Subhash ran after the absconding suspect while constable Satbir held on to the one who had stayed back. In a bid to free himself, the man shot at Satbir and fled. The bullet pierced through Stabir’s shoulder.

Hearing the gunshot, the head constable came back and informed the police station. Following this, the injured was taken to AIIMS where doctors declared him out of danger.

The police has registered a case under the Arms Act and a team has been formed to arrest the accused.
