Boy brutally assaults sister for buying dress worth Rs 100

New Delhi: A 20-year-old girl from Bihar was brutally attacked by her teenage brother in Dwarka. The girl had recently purchased a suit worth Rs 100, which had angered her younger brother. In a fit of rage, the boy assaulted her sister and punctured her eyes.

According to the police, the woman said she did not want any legal action against her brother.

The victim was brutally attacked by her 17-year-old brother and was confined in their jhuggi in Dwarka without providing any medical aid.

The staff of the Mahila Panchayat Programme of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) was conducting door to door visits when they heard the screams of the woman.

“When they enquired from the neighbours, they were informed that the woman’s brother usually beat her up, ” DCW said.

“Taking immediate action, the team approached the house where she had been locked up,” the DCW added.

When they tried to enter the house, the brother abused them and threatened to attack them, the panel said.

Somehow, the team managed to enter the shanty and found the woman lying on the floor covered in blood with her eyes punctured and face swollen, it added.

The woman was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, where she continues to be critically ill and is in a state of trauma, the panel said.

The doctors are waiting for the swelling in her face to subside to properly assess the damage to her eyes, the panel claimed.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal, along with other panel members, visited the woman in Safdarjung Hospital and they are closely monitoring her condition.

The parents of the woman were in their native village at the time of the assault. They were contacted after much difficulty and have presently returned to support the girl, the panel said.

The DCW chief has issued summons to the concerned SHO urging action against the boy, it added.

The DCW has approached the court for compensation for the girl and is providing her all necessary support in the hospital, the panel said.
