Mumbai: The newly-appointed metropolitan commissioner R.A. Rajeev has said that the ongoing metro projects in the city will be implemented with minimum inconvenience to Mumbaikars. Mr Rajeev said that he will use his past experience as a bureaucrat to tackle delays in metro projects due to pending clearances. He has been a top official in the state environment department and has headed the Thane Municipal Corporation.

Mr Rajeev was addressing the media on Friday. “My top priority will be to focus on all metro projects which are in the pipeline and whose work orders have been issued. I will ensure that all projects cause the least inconvenience to people and minimum noise pollution, too. I will see to it that clearance procedures are minimised. I will use my work experience and the teamwork of the MMRDA staff.”

He has previously worked with the environment department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and was the secretary of expenditure of the state finance department before joining the MMRDA. He said that the clearance procedure for metro projects will be made easy. Mr Rajeev on Wednesday took charge of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), replacing former commissioner, U.P.S. Madan.
