Not 'hungama', but fight for justice: Raut
Raut says a written proposal from the BJP has been the Sena's demand from the beginning of the deadlock.
Mumbai: Shiv Sena spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said that the deadlock over government formation would be resolved in Maharashtra and not in Delhi.
While reiterating that the chief minister would be from his party, he added that the Sena has adopted a wait-and-watch policy on the contentious issue.
“The swearing ceremony will take place. The eclipse over Maharashtra will end. The swearing ceremony is not a monopoly of anyone,” Mr. Raut said, in an apparent reference to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s claim over the chief minister’s position.
Mr Raut also said that imposition of President’s rule would be an insult to the people of Maharashtra.
The Sena leader said that a written assurance from BJP (over sharing of CM’s post), has been the party’s stand from day one.
“The politics of Maharashtra is changing. What you (the media) call hangama (commotion) is not hungama. But it is a fight for justice, truth and rights. We will win and the new government will be formed,” he added.
Mr Raut clarified that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar will not be the next chief minister of Maharashtra.
In the Maharashtra Assembly polls, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena - 56, NCP - 54 and Congress-44.
However, owing to the tussle over power sharing between the BJP and Shiv Sena, the state is yet to see a government.
The term of the 13th Assembly ends on November 9.
