Mumbai west region tops exam chart
Following Mumbai west is Mumbai south with 91.34 per cent and Thane district with 90.51 per cent.
MUMBAI: Mumbai west region topped the chart of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination with a pass percentage of 92.21 per cent in the Mumbai division.
Following Mumbai west is Mumbai south with 91.34 per cent and Thane district with 90.51 per cent. Palghar and Raigad district has 89.73 per cent and 89.37 per cent pass percentage, respectively. Mumbai north has comparatively the lowest pass percentage with 88.78 per cent.
According to the board officials, Mumbai division is unique compared to other divisions like Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Amravati, Kolhapur, etc.
While talking to The Asian Age, Subhash Bhorse, in-charge secretary of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), Mumbai division said. “In Mumbai, not just students appear for the board exams both — SSC and HSC. Here, even a housewife or a labourer attempts the examinations which is the most unique part.”
He further said, this division has the highest number of private candidates or form number 17 applicants, which are 25,785. Total number of students in the ATKT category was 22,924 this year. In Mumbai division, Palghar district has most number of repeaters and the pass percentage is 48.80 per cent while the least is in the Mumbai south region with a pass percentage of 33.66 per cent.
