Mumbai: The post-mortem of the 10-year-old boy who committed suicide by consuming poison with his 13-year-old friend, who was sodomised, on July 12 revealed that the former had been similarly violated. The Powai police has questioned children from the locality, but fear that they have been threatened into keeping mum.

According to officials investigating the case, samples were taken from the 10-year-old’s body, which was exhumed on Tuesday and buried a day later, and tests were performed.  The forensic experts also checked if he was sodomised, to which they received positive results. The boy’s parents had claimed that he died due to dehydration, and refused to have a post-mortem carried out on him.

Navinchandra Reddy, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 10 said “The post-mortem report of the 10-year-old boy states that he was sodomised, like his 13-year-old friend who died on Tuesday. We are probing the case with solid medical evidence.”

Three adults allegedly sodomised the two boys on July 6, when the duo was on their way to tuitions in their locality. The incident came to light six days later when the 13-year-old started vomiting, after which he was rushed to the hospital and it was revealed that he had consumed poison. The boy, in need of a liver transplant, died at 4.30 am on Tuesday.

Police officers said they have questioned nearly 100 children in the vicinity, but as they were questioned in front of their parents, they might have been too scared to open up. The police also suspect that the accused, who might have threatened the deceased children, must have threatened others.
