Following an incident where after the reports of a sweeper having molested a five-year-old girl from a school in Malegaon spread, the area witnessed unrest in which many vehicles including a police vehicle was burned by a mob on Friday.

The sweeper who had allegedly assaulted the minor girl in a private Urdu school, Khatun Education Society’s Mother Ayesha School, has been arrested from Lasalgaon.

The people were angry that the school authorities refused to take action against the sweeper even after a complaint having been registered with the principal. After the incident came to light, the school management had not even alerted the police. Readers may recall that the victim, a kindergarten student from Mother Ayesha School had gone to use the toilet during recess on April 6 when the accused Ajay Chhagan Danke who was lying in wait, lured her to another floor and tried to remove her clothes.

The minor informed her parents about the incident after returning home. They approached the school to lodge a complaint but the headmistress and management did not entertain them.

This caused considerable tension among the people, who went to the school and demanded action but authorities did not act upon their demands. By that time the school had gotten over and soon other parents and students joined the agitators and demanded the school management for its reply on the matter.

Meanwhile, there were also rumours of rape and murder of a five-year-old girl that further increased the tension and the mob soon turned to smashing furniture and stationery in the school.

Vehicles parked outside the school were damaged, which included additional SP Sunil Kadasne’s car. Some people were also reportedly injured in the incident. Mr Kadasne appealed to the mob that action would be taken against the culprit, after which their fury abated.
