A 45-year-old deputy commandant of Assam Rifles has been arrested for allegedly running a gang which duped around people to the tune of more than a crore in various parts of the country on the pretext of proving them jobs in the paramilitary force and the ministry of health and family welfare.
A 45-year-old deputy commandant of Assam Rifles has been arrested for allegedly running a gang which duped around people to the tune of more than a crore in various parts of the country on the pretext of proving them jobs in the paramilitary force and the ministry of health and family welfare. The accused had been on the run for the last one year. Two members of the gang had already been arrested in 2011. Accused K.D. Das was arrested from near Saket court complex on Wednesday. A complaint was registered in the year 2011 that one accused, Major Ravinder Chauhan had allegedly duped a number of people on the pretext of giving them jobs in the Assam Rifles and ministry of health and family welfare. Ravinder was arrested from Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station on September 30, 2011. On interrogation, he revealed that one Archana Sinha was allegedly the mastermind. A raid was conducted in Assam and Archana was arrested on October 5, 2011. The police recovered '5.19 lakhs, along with 21 fake stamps of Assam Rifles and ministry of health and family welfare, 200 fake appointment letters and a list of around 2,000 perspective clients from the possession of Archana. The two accused revealed about K.D. Das, who had not reported for duty since October 2011 when two of his aides were arrested. Dr Das allegedly helped Sinha in preparing fake appointment letters of Assam Rifles. Several cases had been registered against the accused in HP, MP and Haryana, alleging that they duped hundreds of jobseekers.
