He was much appreciated for his comic role in Delhi Belly, but actor Kunaal Roy Kapur’s journey in Bollywood so far hasn’t exactly been a cakewalk. In a quick chat, the actor tells us about his role in Azhar, his comfort in being an average looking guy, and his worries of being seen as a one-film wonder.

Why have you not been promoting Azhar I am playing Azhar’s (played by Emraan Hashmi) lawyer in the film. The makers wanted to keep my look under the wraps during the promotions since I have donned a special look for the role. That’s why I am not involved in promotions.

How is your equation with the other two Kapur brothers and what do you talk about when the three of you meet We talk about random things such as news and current affairs. We discuss films we have watched and the ones we want to watch and so on.

Do you advice each other on your films We do advice each other, but there is no interference in each other’s work. The final decision on taking up projects has to be our own.

Aditya and Sidharth are doing quite well in their careers. Do you feel you are falling behind in this sibling competition Well, I got a lot of offers after Delhi Belly, but back then people were only offering me comic roles. I took up one or two of those up as well but that didn’t work for me. Nautanki Saala didn't work at the box office and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani had much bigger stars. My role in Azhar too has a comic element to it, but it is different.

You have a famous last name. Did you find it easy to break into the industry I won’t say I am a star kid. All three of us have crafted our own ways. Sidharth has worked for several corporate firms and Aditya has done so much in television. As for me, I come from a theatre background. People tend to judge you and they often say that it is easy for people like us to get where we are. But we have made our own journeys all along.

Are you worried about being called a one-film wonder post Delhi Belly I feel I am an actor and for me it doesn’t matter whether the part I play is a character role or the lead. Till the time filmmakers cast me in their films, I will continue to perform.

Seems like you're not in the rat race for six pack abs I never aim for six packs. I am okay with two packs maybe. If any script or role demands that I should have six packs, I will do it . But right now, I am happy with the way I look and I am quite comfortable with it.
