Kolkata: Buoyant over the fact that nearly 19 million children born in India every year (on an average) and Indian families are becoming increasingly health conscious and are helping their children develop healthy habits at a younger age, the US-based Strider Sports International Inc, the world's premier manufacturer and marketer of a range of quality, safe and durable balance bikes for kids, has now forayed into the Indian market. As starter, Strider bikes will be available on Amazon India through former's authorised dealer in India- Etailz.

The company has already set an ambitious target of selling 15,000 bikes over the next three years. "As we look to establish the market and educate our India consumers of the value and benefits of balance bikes, we estimate sales to exceed 15,000 bikes over the next three years," said Ryan McFarland, Founder and CEO of Strider Sports International Inc.

He said, "In the past, kids used to spend a couple years riding a tricycle, then a training-wheel bike for a couple more years, and then finally move on to pedaling a bike around 6 years old. There are two problems with this approach. The 4 years spent on tricycles and training wheels don't develop balance. By age 6, children are spending more time indoors and in front of screens than playing with others. Many are no longer learning to ride bikes. Strider makes products for children as young as six months old, and sees children successfully balancing on two wheels by age two and proficiently pedaling by age 4."

India is an incredibly important market for the US-based company. It now sells more bikes in Asia than any other continent and there is huge room for growth in a bike-loving nation like India.
