In addition, three large casino tables, along with some stake money and cash, 2,968 gambling tokens worth crores of rupees have been seized. The raid comes days after a similar raid was carried out in Sainik Farms on Sunday. It is alleged that as in the previous instance, liquor was being illegally served in the Vasant Kunj casino as well.

Eighty five bottles of liquor/ beer and seven packets of playing cards were purportedly seized as well.

“Acting on a tip off, the team, consisting inspector Ugesh Kuma, conducted a raid at a farm house i.e. Park Lane, Vasant Kunj and found that people were gambling in the premises on three tables. On search, stake money worth Rs 43,500, 2,968 gambling tokens worth crores of rupees, 85 bottles of liquor/ bear and 7 packets of playing cards were recovered from the spot,” said a senior police officer.

During interrogation, the arrested woman were earlier employed with a casino in Goa. The visitors would be provided incentives to bring in new members in the form of commissions. The more money the new visitor, introduced by an existing member, would lose in the casino, the higher the incentive would be for the latter, added another officer.

It was found that premises belongs to one Madhubala and the same was given on rent to the arrested accused, namely Gulshan Arora, for an initial period of three months.

The landlady claimed before the police that she was kept in the dark about the business plans of the accused. Those running the casino had told the owner that they were renting the house for residential purposes. They were paying Rs 2.5 lakh every month for the usage. However, the cops have not given her a clean chit yet.
