Scores of JNU students staged a protest outside the police headquarters on Friday, alleging inaction to trace Najeeb Ahmed (27), a student of student of School of Biotechnology, who has been missing from the campus for two weeks.

The protest, which was headed by JNU Students’ Union, led to a massive traffic jam at the ITO crossing.

A delegation met joint commissioner R.P. Upadhy-ay and submitted a memorandum of demands to him.

“They wanted to know about the status of the investigation and what were we doing for the imm-ediate recovery of Najeeb. We told them it was a high-priority case for us and almost 100 personnel, split into various teams, are wo-rking on it,” Mr Upadhyay said. “The students offered to help us in conducting a search of the jungle which we told them we had already done with the JNU administration officials,” he added.
