Are Karan Johar’s Koffee dates too bold?

The success of Koffee with Karan can be largely attributed to the fact that celebrities get rather comfortable on the couch, spilling the beans that are often stacked up in the closet. We’re referring to sexual innuendoes and the very many phallic references that have already been the highlight of the show’s latest season. It started with Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan’s episode. Later, Twinkle Khanna caused a stir with her comment on Akshay Kumar’s ‘extra few inches’. In another episode, Karan quite unabashedly asked Arjun Kapoor if he had a bigger appendage than Varun Dhawan. The channel duly beeped the word for the reference, but it was anybody’s guess what the boys were giggling about.   

The constant referencing has led to a few raised eyebrows in the film circuit, we believe. Says a senior filmmaker colleague, “Nowhere in the world is an interviewee asked about his private parts. But Karan’s talk show has its own rules. In the fourth  episode that is yet to be aired, Karan shows more than a passing interest in Ranveer Singh’s privates. Karan has a clout and he’s using it on the couch.”
