16-year-old minor raped, set on fire by boyfriend in Noida

The girl received more than 60 per cent burns and has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

A 16-year-old minor was raped and set ablaze by her boyfriend in Greater Noida’s Tigri village on Monday.

According to reports, the girl received more than 60 per cent burns and has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

On Monday afternoon, the victim's parents heard her screaming from their home’s terrace. When they ran up, they found her on fire.

Police said accused Ajay Sharma (18), who lived in the same village, was arrested.

“A police team is with the victim at the hospital. Her statement was recorded. She accused Ajay of rape and attempt to murder,” said a police official.

Victim’s parents said Ajay was harassing their daughter until she stopped going out.

Policemen have been deployed in Tigri village following the incident to avoid any untoward incident.
