Eight Cobra commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force were killed in an ambush by the Naxalites which followed an Intensive Explosive Device (IED) blast in Gaya, Bihar. According to PTI, the death toll is likely to rise as several security officials were also injured in what they called a Naxal attack. Three Naxalites were also killed in the encounter.
The incident took place near the border of Gaya and Aurangabad district on Monday evening when CRPF officials along with Cobra commandos were returning from a mission. The IED blast took place near a Naxal-affected area of Gaya in which six CRPF jawans were injured.
According to reports, the CRPF officials were killed in a surprise attack after which both the sides exchanged fire for a few minutes. Three Naxalites were also neutralised by the security officials.
Due to bad weather and heavy rains, security forces were not able to provide adequate help to the injured jawans for few hours.
