New Delhi: In what will be a keenly-watched visit by Pakistan, Iran and the rest of the Islamic world, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to make a brief, probably day-long trip, to India this month within the next couple of weeks although his travel dates have not yet been officially announced.

In what will be another busy and hectic month for Indian diplomacy, preparations are also on in full swing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forthcoming visit to the United States from September 22 to 27.

PM Modi is expected to address the United Nations General Asse-mbly (UNGA) on September 27 at the end of his visit, with New Delhi expected to fiercely counter Pakistan’s shrill propaganda on the Kashmir issue.

Sources said PM Modi would definitely visit both Houston and then New York for the UNGA although visits to more US cities are not being ruled out at this stage.

A string of bilateral meetings with various world leaders are also being planned for the PM in New York. But the visit is expected to begin from Houston when he is scheduled to address members of the Indian community there at a huge reception.

Prior to Mr Modi’s visit, the Israeli Prime Minister’s visit to India that will be keenly monitored. It is expected to take place in mid-September when general elections will be held once again.

Mr Netanyahu was initially scheduled to make a brief visit to India sometime in April or May before the Lok Sabha polls but that visit did not materialise.
