Bhiwani: Addressing a rally in Haryana’s Bhiwani on Monday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, “Narendra Modi the boxer was supposed to fight unemployment, farmer problems, corruption etc but he instead turned around and punched his coach Advaniji, his team Gadkariji, Jaitleyji, then went into the crowd and punched small traders and farmers.”

Gandhi drew a comparison between a boxer and PM Modi to illustrate what he claimed was the failures of the BJP-led NDA government policies from economy to agriculture.

"In the last election, Hindustan put a new boxer, Narendra Modi, in the ring. The 56-inch chest came to the ring. Facing him was a boxer - poverty, farmers' problems, corruption," said Gandhi.

With fist in the air and mocking a punch near the mic, Congress president said, "The boxer comes with much fanfare, lights shining on him. The first thing he does is he looks at the coach and punches Advani ji on the face. Advani ji is shocked. The he runs after his team. One by one he punches Gadkari ji, Arun Jaitley ji, dhad, dhad, dhad."

Continuing his attack at PM Modi, Gandhi said, "People are watching. Then he jumps down from the ring. People ask why he's running away from the ring, where he was supposed to fight the issues. But he goes in the middle of the crowd and punches small shopkeepers twice - notebandi (demonetisation) and Gabbar Singh Tax (referring to the national tax GST). Then he runs after farmers, who tells him, 'boxer saab, please go inside the ring and waive our loans', but dhad, dhad he also hit the farmers. What's happening? Doesn't this boxer understand he has to fight inside the ring?"

Accusing PM Modi of failing on issues concerned to the people, he said: "Now, the boxer is knocked out by farm issues, unemployment, the promise of giving Rs 15 lakh rupees. He is lying on the ground and punching in the air. Narendra Modi ji had promised to solve farmers problems and deposit Rs 15 lakhs in every account. He did not do that."

The Congress leader also accused PM Modi of deceiving the people of India. "This boxer does not know who he is fighting against. Pradhanmantri ji, you have deceived the people of India," he said.

He further said: "We are not fighting with our guru, farmers, the people and the poor. We are fighting against poverty and India's pain. And we will win."
