New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “weak Prime Minister” in a tweet. “India has a weak PM,” Mr Gandhi tweeted. Along with the tweet, he also mentioned two stories about the government not raising the issue of H1B visa with the US government. While the other story was about the US state department referring to Jammu and Kashmir as “Indian administered Kashmir”.

Taking the lead from its vice president, the Congress tweeted from its official account, hitting out at the government. “While it was a great photo opportunity, the main issues were bypassed on Narendra Modi’s trip to the United States. #Unfruitful #WeakModi,” the tweet read.

Earlier, the Congress had targeted the Prime Minister and the government for not objecting to the wording used by the US state department, especially at a time when the Prime Minister was in the US.

On the issue of H1 B visas also, the Congress chided the Prime Minister for not raising the issue in his meeting with the United States President Donald Trump.

The Congress had urged the Prime Minister to take up the issues of H-1B visa, racial attacks on Indians and cross-border terrorism from Pakistan. Since the Madison square garden event of the Prime Minister during his first visit to the US, the Congress has been critical of his foreign trips. The party spokesperson said that the PM’s 64 trips in the last three years had not helped the country even a bit. Instead, they catered only to the domestic Indian audience in the form of televised shows. The Congress laos plans to raise the issue in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.
