Lucknow: A woman in Bareilly district has alleged that her husband gave her triple talaq after she attended a function held to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for banning triple talaq.

The woman, identified as Fayra, said that she had gone to attend a rally organised as a mark of support to the Modi government’s decision to bring in legislation to ban instant triple talaq.

She claimed that after she returned from the rally her husband said that even the Prime Minister will not be able to save her and then gave her triple talaq. She said that she was beaten up and then thrown out of the house along with her child.

Fayra further alleged that her husband, Danish, had an affair with his aunt and even had a son with her.

The husband, Danish, on the other hand, defended himself saying that he divorced his wife over her extra-marital affairs.

“I did not give her triple talaq as she is claiming. She had an extramarital affair, so I divorced her. Her uncle keeps threatening me. She always wore jeans and things like that. I do not want to stay with my wife and the Prime Minister has nothing to do with it,” he told mediapersons.
