UP inks MoUs with Tata Trusts for welfare of health, education

UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday sought cooperation from industrialist and Tata Trust chief Ratan Tata, saying that his presence will improve the image of Uttar Pradesh internationally.

UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday sought cooperation from industrialist and Tata Trust chief Ratan Tata, saying that his presence will improve the image of Uttar Pradesh internationally. The government had signed various MoUs with the Tata Trusts for community development programmes in education and health sectors.

“You keep coming and give your blessings and show us the path. This will bring about change in the country and the state” the CM said.

Mr Yadav pointed out that several states are behind UP in terms of population. “Unless the figures of UP are better, figures of the country cannot improve internationally”, he said, adding that the issues of farmers and villages are a priority as their incorporation in could change their lives and make them open for employment opportunities.

“It is true that UP is not viewed in the manner in which it in the manner in which it should be looked at”, he said.

The chief minister claimed that his government has worked for development of cities as well as villages since the party came to power. He added that the biggest question was that poor people were not aware of nutrition issues.

“At times minor things can solve big issues like nutrition. I feel things will improve with our mutual cooperation”, he said.

Mr Yadav pointed out that his government was trying to improve the lives of women in the state by giving them Samajwadi pension. He said that if the budget permitted, not a single poor woman would be left out.

He said that he was thankful to Mr Tata and added that with his presence, people will know that UP is going in the right direction.

Tata Trusts has decided to cooperate with the state government in its attempt to empower the poor and weaker sections through programmes aimed at poverty eradication, employment generation and infrastructure generation.
