The team’s visit will come exactly after a week since the crucial arrest was made following joint efforts by India, Australia, Indonesia.

The Indian team may carry summons for Rajan under a notification issued by the MHA in August this year of a pact sealed with Indonesian authorities, which is expected to facilitate Rajan’s deportation to the country ‘’as early as possible.”

The crucial pact allows both countries to deport criminals on either side based on a court warrant. access to all the evidence collected so far by the Indonesian police against Rajan since his arrest in Bali.

Rajan has been interrogated by the Indonesian authorities since his arrest on Monday and his interrogation details are likely to be shared with the team. The Indian team is also likely to get access to Rajan to question him, even as it is hoping to complete the formalities for his deportation during the visit.

“We are in touch with the ministry of home affairs. Both ministry of external affairs and home affairs are working together to ensure that we bring him back to India as early as possible,” external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.

Tight security arrangements are being made in Indonesia for the Indian team’s arrival and stay in the backdrop of a high threat perception for the Indian sleuths.

The notification issued by the ministry of home affairs on August 21, ‘’arrangements have been made by the Central government with the government of the Republic of Indonesia for service or execution of summons or warrant in relation to criminal matters, on any person in the Republic of Indonesia.’’

The gazette notification also specified that a summon for attendance of a person in the course of an investigation or inquiry in any criminal case, to be served or executed in any place in Indonesia, shall be issued in a particular format and sent to the home ministry for transmission to the Central authority, that is, the ministry of law and human rights of Indonesia.
