Age gap is no more a bar

Celluloid capers of older men romancing women half their age are the flavour of moviemakers in recent times. Amitabh Bachchan has done that twice in Nishabd and Cheeni Kum.

On a more platonic level, Shivaji Ganesan had attempted something similar in the 1985 Tamil classic “Mudhal Mariyathai.”

Such relationships aren’t rare in reality even though we may presume otherwise because of prudish values.

Clients regularly ask me whether age weighs down sexual prowess.

“Can elderly Casanovas derisively called ‘dirty old men’ who only want a ‘trophy wife’ really sexually gratify a much younger female admirer?” asked a friend in a party.

My reactions to that query are generalised below.

A 20-year-old woman actually has very good reasons to woo a 50 plus man.

“Age unbalanced” unions weren’t taboo in ancient India and China.

On the contrary, they were encouraged.

Our kings married even when they were near geriatrics.

In western countries, slightly elder men are a premium commodity today - especially amongst the merry maidens.

In his treatise “The Tao of Love and Sex” Jolan Chang avers that a generation gap serves a great need and is a heady combination, explaining the phenomenon.

Normally, young men are aroused easily and reach orgasm much more quickly than female sexual partners because, during youth, the very sight or thought of a beautiful woman can result in an erection.

As a consequence, most whippersnappers cannot delay their ejaculation.

With age, the pace of men's sexual response slows down needing intense physical stimulation and prolonged foreplay. In turn, this turns the younger women on more because they lubricate more due to the adequate levels of hormone oestrogen.

The tighter vagina of younger women makes the frictional ecstasy sustain the older man’s erection for longer periods. The time needed to touch the peak of excitement and orgasm is more and results in the younger woman’s deriving additional pleasure from an intercourse.

Further, age contributes calmness, confidence and skill an elder man’s lovemaking - an aspect usually absent in the younger eager beaver. All this can propel a woman at the peak of her youth to prefer a greybeard.

Age doesn’t accord vintage status to wine alone. Maturity is a virtue coveted by belles because it is more satisfying.

And not surprisingly, therefore, the Taoist masters say, “the most important thing is to learn to satisfy your woman - no matter what her age or yours.”
