New Delhi: An FIR was filed on Saturday in the case of a German national being molested by her landlord in South Delhi’s Hauz Khas on November 30. This comes at a time when the police is still struggling to achieve a breakthrough in the Mukherjee Nagar molestation case.

The foreign national is a research scholar and had gone to meet her landlord to clear out standing bills when he allegedly forced himself upon her and tried to kiss her.

The landlord has been identified as Amit Yadav.

The incident came to light on December 5 after the complainant approached Swati Maliwal, chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), and narrated her ordeal to her. She subsequently shot a notice to the Delhi police, who in turn swung into action and registered the FIR on December 27 and the case was registered under relevant Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of woman) of Indian Penal Code at the Hauz Khas Police Station.

According to the police, in her statement to the DCW, the woman alleged that the suspect was alone at his house when she had gone to meet him.

After a brief talk with him regarding settling the outstanding payment, the German scholar wanted to use the restroom.

The complaint further read that after she came out, Yadav pounced at her and forced himself upon on her and tried to kiss her.

She allegedly pushed him away and tried to walk out when he allegedly removed his pants and made sexual advances towards her. However, Amit couldn’t succeed as his son suddenly came inside the room following which the foreign national managed to run for safety and locked herself inside her room. She then called her friends and narrated the incident to them.

On the directions of her friends, the victim approached the office of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and met the DCW chief and gave her a detailed account of the horror. After filing the written complaint, she returned to Germany, said the police.

The police has written an email to her regarding the complaint and has requested her to come to India to record her statement in this connection. “We have written an e-mail to the victim requesting her to come to India and record her statement before the magistrate for further investigation in the case. A reminder mail was also dropped today, but the victim hasn’t respond yet. We are hopeful that she will come to India to record her statement,” ADCP I (South) Chinmoy Biswal, said.

Meanwhile, according to the police, a team had also visited the house of the suspect in Hauz Khas Block D to question the landlord but the house was found locked. “The probe is underway and the suspect will be nabbed soon,” said a police official.
